One of the most disappointing comments we at CHH Engraving have heard from a non-profit was that they can’t afford to recognize the people who help them achieve their goals.
We understand of course - times can be tough, especially for a business in the non-profit space. There weren’t many charitable dollars to be had, especially when there is so much emphasis on the cause. Emphasis does have to be on the mission of the organization.
But let us change the perspective a bit. Take a look at it from the point of view of the donor, the volunteer, the staff person. Without their time, talent, and treasure, where would the organization be?
So let’s look long-term. Towards the sustainability of the organization. For the continued ability to carry out the mission. Let’s look at recognition within a budget, most especially when it comes to promotional products.
The most budget conscious (as in free) form of recognition is verbal. Thank you for your support. Good job. You make a difference and it is appreciated. Sometimes, what seems little can mean a lot.
Requiring a bit more investment, in time and money, is the written word. One of the organizations we support is a Native American school. With just about every solicitation they send out, there is a note from one of the children. While we suspect they are computer generated to look like a child’s writing, regardless, it presents a child’s perspective on how they benefit from the support. While we don’t donate for recognition, or thank you note, it does inspire us and make us feel even warmer to the organization.
With a little more investment, recognition can be less ephemeral and more tangible.
Most people in this instance are likely thinking something like a promotional plaque, a clock, an award. And they wouldn’t be wrong! For a minimal investment (think no more than $25.00), a nice plaque recognizing donation of time or money can be on the individual’s office wall or home mantle.
But with promotional products you can think even beyond the office! A hoodie, vest or jacket with the company logo and individual’s name, recognizing their safety, punctuality, or customer service record could be more fitting. With today’s decoration capabilities, almost anything can be personalized products. A stainless steel tumbler. A Bluetooth speaker. And many more!
When compared to the investment needed to generate a new client, find a new donor, hire - and train - a new staff worker or volunteers, the statement should read: we can’t afford to not recognize.
Whatever level of recognition you are looking to deliver, especially if it involves promotional products, reach out to CHH Engraving for all your needs. We’re excited to help deliver messages that stick and let people know you care.
