The other week a member of our CHH Engraving team was at a conference for higher education professionals. Understandably, the team member was a bit of an outlier among the discussions about budgets, needs and vendor relations.
During a session on promotional product partners, an intriguing statement caught the attention of attendees. One participant expressed reluctance to engage with vendors, citing a lack of immediate needs or budgetary allocations. It was a sentiment shared by many, but one that sparked a deeper conversation.
Our team member realized that this misconception was something they had to bring up during the ending discussion. Vendor relations is not solely about transactions or immediate needs; it’s about building relationships, understanding potential, and exploring possibilities. If everyone a vendor engaged with had an immediate need and budget to go, we’d probably all have been retired on a tropical island by now.
Rather, the emphasis is on future proofing. Even if there wasn’t an immediate fit, there could still be opportunities for future collaboration or valuable insights gained from conversation. It’s about laying the groundwork for potential partnerships even if they don’t materialize right away.
Vendors are not just salespeople, but rather partners in progress. They can help push innovation, and are a trusted source of expertise. In honest vendor relationships, a vendor can push you and your company farther than previously considered before.
At CHH Engraving, the belief extends beyond selling products. The aim is to foster connections, spark conversations, and leave a lasting impression. Whether it's through meticulously crafted engraved mugs, personalized bags, or custom pens, each item tells a story and carries the potential for meaningful engagement. CHH can be the partnership that transcends expectations and is waiting to unfold.
